I have an art show coming up! The show is the Kent Denver Art Show and it will run Friday June 5th- Sunday June 7th. I had some work in this show last year and I really like it because it has a very laid back atmosphere and there are lots of other artists with great work. If anyone is interested in attending it is held at Kent Denver School in Colorado for more information please visit their website. I found this little place near my home in Utah and decided I had to do a photo shoot there. Kali has a very fun personality and therefore the setting really worked with her. I love the older, vintage feeling of the building. Awesome, what a great shoot!

Sorry for the lack of posting this past week, I was in Denver with BYU for the MCLA national tournament. It was fun and there were some awesome games but I am exhausted. Here are a few of my favorites from the week. Chapman ended up beating BYU 10-9 in overtime.

This was the last regular season high school game I shot this year. I have shot a few games for both teams and it was fun watching them play each other. Lehi (the black and purple team) actually is the same colors I wore when I played high school lacrosse, and their mascot is the same as where I played college lacrosse (The Pioneers). Weird. Well what a fun lacrosse season, two high school playoff games this week and it is over like that. Sad. Onto a new sport this summer, little league baseball, some soccer maybe, my husbands summer league lacrosse team ( I will have to post some from those games because they are funny...) Sports Photographer: College Lacrosse: BYU vs University of Colorado

I shot the RMLC championship game this weekend in Boulder, CO. It was not the nice weather that I am used to in Colorado, instead it was overcast and pouring rain by the forth quarter. I will be happy the day I get protective gear for my camera because I was so nervous it was going to get wet. Until that day plastic bags and an umbrella stuffed into my coat will have to do. What a great game and a great turn around season for CU. They had a few losses early on that I thought meant they were not going to be very good this season. Guess again. I think they could pull some serious upsets at the National Tournement in a week. I would love for them to take down Michigan (it might be the fact that I loved attending CU football games as a kid, or that I like cheering for the underdog at times). These are from the Bountiful vs Judge game. It was such a nice day and the game was a good one. I really liked the colors of both teams uniforms. I have a younger cousin that plays for Olympus. Until last Saturday I had never seen him play before and he did so awesome! I had so much fun watching him play despite the fact that for the second quarter and into the third it was raining and freezing. Where is summer? Please some soon I seriously prefer shooting on hot sunny days then on the cold freezing ones.

I had the chance to head up to Salt Lake and shoot three of Bountiful's games this past weekend. They won the state championship last year so it was really fun watching them play. This particular game against Jordan they actually lost... which is their first lost to a team in state since their championship last year. I am hoping to catch a few of their playoff games coming up here in the next week or so.....

Utah Landscape Photographer: Thistle

My husband, a friend of ours, and I drove up to Thistle today and spent a few hours searching the ruins. It was so awesome. For those of you that don't know the story behind Thistle, it is a little town in Utah that was destroyed in 1983. A mudslide dammed the river near it and flooded the town. Everyone evacuated and there was so much water and damage that no one ever moved back. There was a house still underwater (partially) and an old crumbly schoolhouse. Why is it that old and ruined things make such interesting images? One of my favorite pictures is the genealogy letter we found in the back of this old car. I had a lot of fun getting some new images and it was nice to get outside and explore! Here is a link to check out more about Thistle here. Enjoy!

Colorado Family Photography: The Harker's

While I was in Denver I had the chance to shoot the Harker family. We went down to Mainstreet and found some great places to shoot! They were so cute. Their outfits matched perfectly and the kids looked adorable. I had a blast doing these, and I am excited to begin doing more family shoots as the weather begins to warm up. Enjoy!

College Lacrosse: BYU vs. Utah State

Lacrosse season is beginning to wind down, BYU has one more regular season game and then they are moving onto playoffs. They have had an interesting season losing to some teams they probably shouldn't have, and playing a great game and beating a team that I think many people thought they would lose. I am excited for nationals. It is in Denver this year and usually Denver in May means warm weather (with the occasional blizzard depending on the year). Lets hope for 80 degrees and some great lacrosse!

I only shot the first half of this game because I was really sick.... and it was freezing. Colorado had great uniforms and when I was going through the images I realized all of their gloves had little buffaloes on them. I thought it was cool. This past week I traveled to Denver to shoot some high school lacrosse games. It was a very busy week, but fun. Sometimes when I am shooting lacrosse I get really into the game and have to restrain myself from cheering from one team or another. I guess that is what happens when you don't get to play anymore. At least I have found a great way to stay closely connected with the game :)

First high school game I have shot this season! I love lacrosse, and the next best thing to not being able to play anymore is being on the sideline shooting. Too bad this was just a scrimmage, I wish Timpview had their uniforms on, but they have a game again soon so I look forward to shooting their team again with their jerseys on!

I love shooting children. Each child is always so different and it makes the shoot so much fun following them around as they do their own thing. This was a fun day because she had not yet learned how to crawl so instead she rolls across the floor to get around. We had lots of fun!

Well spring is on its way and that means lacrosse is starting! BYU had their first scrimmage on Saturday against the University of Utah. They are headed to Denver tomorrow to face off against the University of Denver and Air Force Academy. I am looking forward to some great games and even better opportunities for pictures! I can't wait, should be a nice weekend, 60's and sunny with lots of lacrosse! "R" and I had so much fun on this shoot! It was a pretty exciting day for her.... she had just had her braces taken off! So school pictures seemed like a must! We decided that it would be fun to do the shoot at a little barn near her home. The red background made for some great images and then we headed downtown for a few shots as the sun was setting. She is a doll, I look forward to next time!

I spent a good portion of this past week updating my website. I wish we could add a few more hours onto each day because I never seem to have enough time! There will be a few more changes to come in the next few weeks so keep your eye out for them! My image galleries are going to be broken up into a few categories so if your looking for examples of children's photography you wont have to sift through engagements and family portraits.
